I’m so sorry but your order at Lilia was all wrong in my very subjective opinion😭😭😭

Everyone freaks out about the focaccia and I did not think it looked good ??? What else did I miss

You are correct that the focaccia does not LOOK good (and they need to work on that) and it's definitely not the best focaccia I've had in my life (enter Radio bakery), but the star of the show on that dish is whatever seasonal butter they're whipping up in that moment and in the Spring / right now it's a ramp butter. And the fairly simple focaccia pairs well in that context.

I like the artichoke, and I don't even like breadcrumbs, but the best starter are the clams (also with breadcrumbs).

I've tried almost all the pastas on the menu and the mafaldine are nothing special (generally none of the "long" pastas have been) -- the sheep's milk agnolotti are the best mainstay, but in the Spring they also have a special mortadella-stuffed tortelli with ramps and they are SENSATIONAL - literally my favorite pasta in the city.

The Italian job was the best choice for dessert but the pic you added looks like a different gelato?

I'm of the belief that it's possible to have a perfect meal at Lilia, but also very possible to have a super average meal, which sounds like what you had. I recommend you try and go back, if not in time to catch the Spring specials, at least for the agnolotti!! I usually agree with all your food recs/reviews!

Can you fix that

me and my best friend rarely eat together because we have completely different palates! the subjectivity of it all drives me crazy.. restuarants that have made me happiest this year: mariscos, penny, north dumpling, pierogi boys, minetta tavern, four horsemen, L&B :,)

You recommended Zimmi's to us last year (and even made our rez!) and we absolutely loved it! One of our favorite meals in a long time. Xo

Love this take! I do agree it’s all subjective and while reviews are helpful, they’re only one basis I use to go to a restaurant. Someone else’s taste buds may not align with mine

I also found Lillia way too salty and didn’t enjoy it at all. Loved Misi but “it was just fine”

Yes. Expectations and subjectivity is the lens every diner walks in with.
