Last December, my year-end roundup of the best things I ate was the final push I needed to start this newsletter. Flipping through a year’s worth of photos of countless dishes, interiors, and baking projects is an exercise that ultimately reminds me why I care about cooking / restaurants / the hospitality industry. A photo from seven months ago will still spur a recollection of where, when, and with whom I had my most memorable bites. I love lining up each of those favorite meals, one after one, as a synopsis of what I’ve done, where I’ve been, and who I spent time with. Bad dates, dinners with best friends, the birthday cake my sister made me, a breakfast I made for my parents, trips to Michelin-starred restaurants, tiny cafes you could easily miss—there’s a lot in there. As I did last year, please see below my humble submission for my best bites of 2024. This time, there are more than 10 and they’re severely carb heavy. Also, they’re organized by course.
